Keep It Clean: Maintaining Your Blentech Steam (and Cooling) Injectors
Blentech’s interchangeable injectors are designed for both direct steam heating and liquid or gas-based cooling, making them a versatile part of your thermal processing system. Whether you’re cooking sauces or chilling meats for forming, regular injector cleaning is critical for consistent performance and system safety.
Here’s how to clean them the right way:
- Disassemble Safely
- Lock out all energy sources.
- Confirm the injector body is at a safe handling temperature—even in cooling mode, metal parts may retain heat or pressure.
- Remove Components
- Disconnect the tri-clamp and gasket from the bottom of the valve body.
- Remove the seat assembly, including O-ring, valve seat, valve, spring, and lock washer.
- Use the injector removal tool (part #202-000001) if needed for tight or stuck assemblies.
- Soak and Scrub
- Place components in a suitable cleaning solution.
- Clean all surfaces thoroughly, especially around the valve and spring.
- Inspect the valve and valve seat for wear, damage, or residue that could affect sealing or performance.
- Reassemble Correctly
- Install components in reverse order, ensuring the lock washer is secured—this prevents the valve from dislodging during operation.
- Insert the assembly into the cap, add a clean gasket, and re-clamp.

- Clean injectors regularly, especially when switching between heating and cooling cycles or after running viscous product.
